holland, mi lakeshore wedding / carlie + caleb

Carlie and Caleb were married at his family's cottage on the first of August. When Carlie booked me as her wedding photographer she knew I didn't normally shoot weddings, but she said what she really wanted were images that captured the details and lots of candid photos. She didn't want to feel too posed, and wanted to be fully present throughout her wedding day.

Their ceremony was held on the deck overlooking Lake Michigan surrounded by a group of their closest friends and family. The details were so special to photograph because Caleb and Carlie had put so much of their own time and energy into each element. From the food, prepared by the groom himself with the help of close friends, to the flowers arranged by Carlie's mom, to the detailed tablescape Carlie pieced together, it all came together perfectly.

Following the ceremony, we snuck off alone to a nearby park in Holland, MI and spent time capturing images of the happy couple, then headed back to the cottage in time to enjoy the end of cocktail hour with their guests.

We moved inside for dinner and I couldn’t get enough of these tables!! Carlie’s Dad opened in prayer, and we had toasts from her MOH and his best man/brother! Then their families surprised them with a video of loved ones who couldn’t make it to the wedding congratulating them!

Lights were strung up and the deck was quickly transformed into a dance floor where the newlyweds spent the evening celebrating with their friends! They put on a playlist of their favorites and danced as the sun went down over Lake Michigan.
